The Indoor Kids Have Come Outside to Play

Rabble rousing punk rock seethes through The Indoor Kids’ new single

With lyrics that present a shameless display of longing for comfortable numbness, riffage that wails, and meaty snare-focused drums, TIK re-introduces themselves to the scene with more than just a blast from the past. It’s fast, it’s loud, and it plays well with others. It’s a track that maintains its fizz throughout its bombastic three minutes and fourteen seconds. Furthermore, it encapsulates a sensational blend of classic Southern California-style punk, sprinkled with smashing elements of gritty speed-driven East Coast punk.

Even though this is supposed to be a brisk, electrified song, the lyrical delivery does feel a bit rushed compared to the ease of speed in the instrumentation. The more I listened to it, the more I began to realize, this could be because the vocals may have to be turned up just a tiny bit during the hook; but overall the production quality of this tune is buttery and intentional. The overdriven solos at 1:38 and 2:34 (respectively) are prime cuts and surge with epic precision.

My biggest compliment here is that if I heard this blaring at a festival or a show somewhere, I would gravitate. When it comes to roots, punk has many channels (artists) and branches (genres) but the best spin on it will always be the DIY one. You can tell by their slowburnt releases over the years (since 2016) that the fellas in TIK are students of the craft.

Gimme More'' pays homage to the tooth-and-nail nature of the genre, and celebrates the sound that pulls your pals into the pit* with you. Whether you get to see them live or just have to flail and headbang in your car, bedroom, or backyard until you ever can, do not skip this drop!

The Indoor Kids are a Greenville, SC based punk band who heave and mash together pure 80s-style punk with a studious fusion of their own flare. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for more to come, because the grand re-re-entry of TIK has only just begun! Follow them and their socials for further updates and remember…

Stay moved, everyone!

*disclaimer, please always make sure your friend(s) actually want to go in the pit with you, not everyone WANTS to voluntarily (quite potentially) get punched in the face!
